I am in pain as I write this. I have a stabbing throbbing pain in where my jaw meats my skull. My doctor and later my critical care nurse wife assures me that this condition while non fatal, this is known to be one of the worst pains reported by people in there lives. It hurts to talk , to chew, to yawn, move the jaw at all, it’s hurts like hell. Its a good thing I have a passable knowledge of sign language. Well it would be good if anyone else knew what I was trying to say. I even tried signing to a passing Volvo 240 today “nice car” but I didn’t get any acknowledgement back.
This got me to thinking, “Jeep owners, & motorcyclist have a bit of a sign language all their own. Why are there no general car guy to car guy signs that one could use while driving? Well besides the obvious one figure salute.” (Car guy is used here as a general term, I don’t care if your a Victoria Secret model, if you have done an oil change or can drive a stick, or we can talk displacement your a car guy)
I know signaling to other car guys has been a bit of a trend in my podcast. I wanted to put stickers on cars, or use an app, I’m sure I’ll come up with another soon. This however might be a good idea. Besides the basic “hey you like cars? I like cars!”, there could many signs to use in many occasions.
I can think of a few useful signs to have, and a few fun ones.
-somethings leaking out of your car
-brake light out
-your car is on fire
-I like your car
-your tire looks extremely low/flat tire
-you drive well
-you drive poorly
-I wish to pass you in this fast lane
-I’m gonna get gas
-I’m gonna get food
-stance life bro
-sorry
-do a barrel roll!
Please suggest your own, and I will come up with signs I think fit and make post them in a few days! (I may even make gifs!)

I have a TMJ too but of the painless but incredibly annoying variety. When I close my jaw it cracks so loudly that sometimes I wonder if an invisible person is cracking walnuts next to my ear.

I gave a guy in an E93 M3 a thumbs up the other day, I don’t think he knew why I did that cause he just kinda looked at me perplexed.

That sounds so nice compared to this, I was fucking debilitated yesterday when it started, I couldn't think straight. I have yet to hear a pop, kinda hoping it does. I feel like it might go away then

Yeah, it's this sort of lack of car to car communication that we sorely lack, I want to fix it. I have done the same often and i normally get puzzled looks back

Please let me in because I don't have enough power to accelerate at the same rate and I'm running out of merging lane.

I badly wanted to tell this lady on the highway that her XJS was awesome, but she didn’t look over when I was next to her.
Cars really need an angry horn and a happy horn.

Happy horn was my porn name.
Also I agree, perhaps buy a kids bicycle horn to keep in car as happy horn

My theory is that people don’t know about the cars because they simply go to the dealer and ask for the “best and most expensive ( insert luxury brand here) and walk out with a really nice car that they don't know is rare or cool.

It was. This one time I was driving from Corpus to San Antonio to visit a work friend and I saw this silver BMW in my rear view and it looked like an E46 M3, so I slowed down so he could catch up. He caught up and was in fact an E46 M3, dropped it into 4th as he was about to pass and he pulled beside me and we just pointed at each other. I had a playmate, let’s just say 2 M cars on an empty Texas interstate is pretty amazing.

my wife has (had) TMJ
do NOT let your doctor talk you into surgery
a GOOD physical therapist should fix be able to fix it
if you are in florida (orlando), I can recommend you with one. He fixed my wife in 1 session (sometimes it takes 2)

I advoid surgery for anything that isn't Life threatening. I appreciate the advice tho. I have a good PT person for my arthritis issues (this is probably related) so next I see them I'm gonna bring it up!

I’m in the UK so surgery ain’t happening unless either I’m gonna die or I go private. Plus my TMJ was due to teeth grinding so a mouth guard was all that was needed apparently. That said I do appear to be chewing through it so some physio might be in order.

The only issue I’ve had with them is that sometimes they won’t automatically open when I turn the headlights on. But even they’ll open if I flip the up-down switch.

I've got just a 4Runner. If I could find a fast car on the cheap, I'd for sure do it.

Yeah, I’m sure, my “race car” Volvo is punching at like 85 HP at the crank, I bet it’s like 50 to the wheels, it’s Slow. I can't merge on highways with any dignity most of the time

I've had a TMJ flare-up the past couple weeks too. Yesterday I woke up and could finally close my jaw with my teeth aligned and my ear no longer needs to pop. Instead I've been stricken with some mysterious illness...now that I could eat adult food, I don't want to. Best of luck.

Ok. The 4Runner isn’t that slow. It’s making around 120 HP and 218 LbFT at the crank. This all comes in shockingly high in the rev range for a truck engine.

That sounds awful I just feel like I have Ice pick driven though my right jaw, I can eat most adult food, although I just tried to eat steak and that didn't go so well
